Westerman Votes for Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act

Issues: Food Processing and Sales
Congressman Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) issued the following statement following passage of H.R 1599, the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015:
"Consumers want to be able to make informed decisions. The Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act gives consumers that ability by standardizing food labeling for a variety of products. The labeling would be entirely voluntary but would create standard labels for non-GMO products that meet specified requirements, similar to current voluntary labeling standards for organic food. It is good for the consumer and good for agriculture and I am proud to have been a co-sponsor of this legislation."
